Data Products

Valan's data products, including the Crucible dataset and derived data feeds (together, the “Data Products”), are made available to commercial customers under written licence agreements executed between Valan and the customer (each a “Licence Agreement”). The summary below describes our standard licensing terms. In the event of any conflict between this page and an executed Licence Agreement, the Licence Agreement prevails. Nothing on this page constitutes an offer; all commercial terms, including fees, scope, and delivery, are agreed per customer.

2.1 Licence grant

Subject to an executed Licence Agreement and payment of the applicable fees, Valan grants the customer a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to access and use the licensed Data Products for the customer's internal business purposes during the subscription term.

2.2 Permitted use

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, permitted use includes: internal research and analysis; incorporation of the Data Products into the customer's internal models, systems, and workflows; and the creation and internal use of derived works, analytics, and signals, provided the underlying Data Products cannot be extracted or reconstructed from them.

2.3 Restrictions

Unless expressly permitted in the applicable Licence Agreement, the customer may not: (a) redistribute, resell, sublicense, publish, or otherwise make the Data Products available to any third party; (b) use the Data Products to build or train a competing data product or service; (c) remove or alter proprietary notices; or (d) use the Data Products in breach of applicable law, including sanctions and export control law.

2.4 Evaluation and trial licences

Valan offers time-limited evaluation and trial licences under separate written terms. Evaluation data is provided solely for the purpose of assessing the Data Products and may not be used in production, retained beyond the evaluation period except as agreed, or disclosed to third parties.

Intellectual Property

The Data Products, including their selection, structure, arrangement, enrichment, and classification — including Valan's proprietary VPV classification taxonomy, crosswalk mappings, and entity linkages — together with all associated database rights, copyright, and other intellectual property rights, are and remain the exclusive property of Valan Technologies Limited or its licensors. No rights are granted except as expressly set out in an executed Licence Agreement.

Data Sources

The Data Products are compiled from official public sector sources, including government procurement portals, national and supranational contract award registries, and official regulatory filings, together with open reference data (including GLEIF LEI data). Valan does not use material non-public information. Records are screened against the EU Consolidated Sanctions List prior to publication. Details of our sourcing, methodology, and quality controls are set out in our source catalogue and methodology documentation, available to customers and prospective customers on request.

Disclaimer

The Data Products are derived from source material published by third-party government bodies and are provided “as is” and “as available”. While Valan applies systematic quality controls, we do not warrant that the Data Products are complete, accurate, or error-free, and we accept no responsibility for errors or omissions in underlying source material. The Data Products do not constitute investment, legal, or professional advice, and any decisions made in reliance on them are at the customer's own risk.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Valan's total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with a Licence Agreement is limited to the fees paid or payable by the customer under that agreement in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, and Valan shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data, or trading losses. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under Irish law.

Term & Termination

Licence Agreements run for the subscription term stated in the agreement. On expiry or termination, the customer must cease use of the Data Products and delete or return licensed data in accordance with the agreement, save that customers may retain derived works created during the term for internal use where the agreement so provides, and copies required by law or bona fide archival policy.

Data Protection

Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. Where Data Products contain incidental personal data originating from official public sources (for example, named procurement officials), such data is processed under Valan's data protection framework in accordance with the GDPR and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018.

Changes to These Terms

We may update this page from time to time. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Executed Licence Agreements are unaffected by changes to this page.

Governing Law

These Terms of Use, and all Licence Agreements unless otherwise stated in the agreement, are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have exclusive jurisdiction.
